Hm, a photo from September 28th 2007. We went to play some pool to Rock Bar in Bled, there was six of us (fitting for this game of sixes). It was quite a long time ago, so I don't remember any details. We had a good time, played a few rounds, drank some beers...

I just know that I rarely take my camera with me when we go out, but I had it that day. Great, otherwise you'd probably be looking at a worse photo today. :)

Talking

Talking helps. Especially if you've had feelings, thoughts, second thoughts, problems and everything stacking up in you. When there's finally too much of everything, you explode. You talk and you talk, hope that the other person talks too, you experience revelations and you confront and you overcome all obstacles. Talking helps. At the end of it all, you feel better, you breathe easy. You are ready to face anything life throws at you.

Donuts!

Yes, krofi. It means donuts. Especially now (it's pust, something like halloween here) a great thing to eat, even though it's bad for your teeth. One of my favourite, even though I don't eat many. I've wanted one since I've seen all the ads in the city, which looked very inviting (at least to me). I couldn't wait to have some and after a small taste i got on Thursday, I really got lucky today. I haven't seen anyone making donuts in a while now, so I kinda felt a bit nostalgic when I helped my grandmother make the dough today.

It takes some effort to make the dough for donuts, especially if you're making so many as we made.

It was all done pretty quickly, grandma knows her donuts. The dough was covered and put in a warm place, the furnace where we left it to rise a bit. After about an hour we got a bit scared, where did we go wrong, the dough had barely risen, but it all worked out fine.

Grandma started 'making' donuts, at the end we counted something over 50. We left them to rise a bit more, then the frying started. You could smell it all over the house, and see the smoke in the kitchen, haha.

Some may look funny, but they are excellent, especially if you helped make them. This is what I'll be eating for the next few days, haha.

They're more tr00 without marmelade in them.

I hope you all get to eat a donut soon. :)

The exam period that is. I took my last exam yesterday, and I think it's safe to say this is the must productive exam period I've ever had, heh. ;) Today was ''vacation'' and I wasn't lazy. Well, I was, but not for the whole day. I got the new timetable for the new semester, checked the dates of all the exams I intend to pass this year and added them to the calendar. I chose Google Calendar, even though I'd like a calendar or an organizer on my desktop.

This time I will make this come true. I hope. The exams I passed gave me energy, eagerness, will. And I like the idea of being without study worries in the middle of June. I'm happy and I feel free.

What's on the desk?

I think this has been in the blogosphere for some time, but I didn't exactly have a blog at the time. The point of the ''game'' is everyone has to write, what's on their desk at the moment. Preferably on their own blog and with a photo, but there's nothing wrong if you just write it in the comments and don't include a photo. This is how my desk looks like at the moment, a lot better than usually, because I have the time to clean it at the moment. But there are also times, when you can hardly use the mouse because there's so much paper, keys, wallets, glasses and things like that.

So, what's on my desk at the moment?

It's raining. It's totally destroying the moments of freedom before uni. classes, keeping us inside of appartments and houses. I tried studying, but I couldn't. Not yet. I need a day to unplug, and I'll be fine. And then I'm starting. Hardcore studying before exams, and later at least 30 minutes a day. This year I'm determined to do it right, to get better. I learn from my mistakes.

That's why I'm looking out the window now. Look out with me. I'm looking on and despite the rain I see sunshine in the future. Because after rain there is sunshine and there will be sunshine now!

The rain is just a new start, it washes away old stuff and makes room for new ones. I see success and new aims in the future and I believe that I can make it, that we can all make it.

We're gonna fly!

Optimism rules.

Captured Dreams English

Hey!

Well since it's summer, a new beginning. I left my old blog, and I apologize to any readers if I post any photos I've posted before.

As you can see from the title, this is a wannabe photoblog, I will publish random things, some photos and of course some text, if I feel artistic. :)

Okay, enough. As I said at the beginning, coz it's summer, I'm starting again. But I'm also starting coz I like blogging again, thanks to Katra and Nika, who just happen to write cool blogs. :D Unlike my primary blog, Captured Dreams (hooray for creative blog-names!), which is only in slovene language, this blog will be only in english.

And now! As always, I have no idea what to write, haha. Let's get to photos.

PS: This will be more or less a direct translation of the slovene blog, and the first few blog entries will be published shortly. The new ones will be published at the same time as on the other blog. Coloured Sky

The last photo of the previous entry was kinda an intro for this one, which I have been promising for quite some time, but didn't find the time to publish it. Luka published it before me. Hehe, on his blog I wrote I'm gonna publish it "tomorrow" :)

Well, tomorrow is, with some delay, today! The Ballooning festival in Bled took place in February, and the photos were also done at that time, and I can only be happy that I have flickr, because I cannot find my photos on the computer anymore.

I went there three times, the first morning I missed the whole thing, coz they had to fly a bit sooner coz of bad winds. I only caught the preparation of a balloon for a flight and kids flying a few meters in the air :)

In the evening I returned for "Night Glow", more balloons lit the dark night. Unfortunately during the day, while I was changing lenses, something in my camera got dirty, and while cleaning it I made the whole thing worse, as I often happen to do. So I had some problems with photographing, but I think my photos turned out okay. I also had the opportunity to ''work'' with two professional photographers, so I finally got to see how it really happens. :P

The next morning I went to Bled again, and met Nina, we had a chat and took some photos together, and lucky Luka (:D) got to fly with one of the balloons (I think the second last from the night-shots). :)

It was nice, but very cold, especially in the evening and the next morning, but really nice. It was a great experience, and I hope it happens again.

Diving in clouds

Sometimes I wish I had more courage.

And sometimes I wish that I could swim in the clouds.

I don't even imagine how much courage one needs to jump from 23 meters, from a giant springboard to the cold water of Bled lake, where divers and many boats wait for you, in case of an accident, and meanwhile the audience silently waits for your jump.
What do you think about, when you're falling down in water and your landing is inevitable. Even though it takes just a couple of seconds, it must feel like eternity.
But I wanna know what it feels like, when you swim to surface and the audience is shouting your name and applauding enthusiasticlly.

Focus point and lenses

Let's make an entry without photos. :)

So, after a few months things are finally moving, I've decided to take my canon get fixed. I've had a problem (my fault) with the focus point since February. It needs to be replaced. Some time ago I found out that the right place for that is a shop called Fotomehanika in Ljubljana, where they change the focus point straight away. It will cost me some money, but I don't mind since it's for my camera. It needs changing, coz I'm tired of focusing manually, coz I miss the focus most of the times :D I have to call them on monday if they have any focus points in stock, otherwise I'll have to wait some weeks, as a kind employee of theirs explained on the telephone.
[Edit: I've called and now I'm waiting 2 weeks. =P]

Besides the focus point I'll spend some more money on a new lens, right now I'm looking closely at two.

Sigma 10-20 F4-5.6 EX DC

Sigma 15mm F2.8 EX DG Diagonal Fisheye

I am considering the second one a lot more, so if anyone has any experience with either of the two, please share. Or if you can suggest any other lenses, but in the same pricerange :)

Actually, the waiting for the focus point is great, because I have more time to think about the lense. And it also helps that I would have to wait for the lenses 2 weeks anyway. :D But anyway, I can't wait to get rid of all my money, haha.

Well, any opinion or suggestion is welcome, so please, do speak.

The world is beautiful

In the last few days I've been checking the internets~ a bit more, blogs, forums, deviantart (hooray v6!), e-fotografija... I got some turbo boost and new ideas for photos. Mostly I was inspired by Tjasa and misfits, so macro photography. I had some time today and I tried if I can do it, too :) Until now I haven't done a lot of macro photography, I didn't have any special lenses or even any big desire for it, I was happy with normal point&shoot motives. But now I've got the feeling that I could get better. And I intend to. The focus point has been ordered, the lens has been chosen, Sigma 10-20 f4-5.6.

Oke, I'm getting a degree from philosophy... I tried if I can do macro photos. My lens of choice was an old SMC Takumar 50mm 1.4 with one macro ring. The sun was shining, I tried a few motives.

Well, while looking for something worthy of taking photos, I saw a bush with mini blossoms.

On that bush I found a snail named Johnny, but he was shy and didn't dare to look out of his house.

For a better effect I watered the bush a bit :)) well, while watering the bush, I saw Betsy. Love at first sight!

Because she was wet, she didn't move much and didn't fly away instantly, so I could get some photos. And I wouldn't be myself if my settings weren't wrong and I wouldn't see that when Betsy almost flew away.

Well, when she was gone, I found Maja the bee, who didn't want to be disturbed and flew away instantly.

I was left alone with snail Johnny and the bush with no name.

Yea, I'll need a lot of practice. But I like it a lot :D all suggestions about settings and equiptment for this kind of photography are welcome, of course!

Hehe, I imagine most of you don't know what the hell I'm talking about. Well, it's about fore, in golf. Heads down, there's a ball heading your way!

A week ago I finally got my Sigma 10-20mm f4-5.6. I ordered it at Mixi, and when after a few days I did not get the package (even though they had it) I canceled my order, and we went to Klagenfurt to get it for more than 100€ cheaper at electronic4you. I can recommend the shop, about 30 minutes after the order we got a call from them saying thanks for ordering and your goods is waiting for you (they don't ship to Slovenia, yet). I'm still waiting for the focus point, though, so the photos are still kinda blurry.

In a few days came the time to finally test the lens a bit more. I went to the golf course in Bled, the weather was pretty poor at the beginning (strong wind and no sun), but it got better in time. I have to buy some filters, because almost all of the photos have overexposed clouds or underexposed grass/lower part of the photo. vreme je bilo sicer na zacetku malce ubogo (mocan veter in nic sonca), ampak se je proti koncu precej popravilo. I need some practice. :)

After a week of use I can say that I like it a lot. The focusing is quick, quiet, the colours are freakin' great! I really like it, I just can't get used to no zooming, haha.

Oh my, the 2muchtalk2littlephotos border has not been crossed, but I'm getting there, so I'll show you the photos instead.

A scent from the kitchen

I'm back! Sorry for the absence, but my job took most of my time, and I went to the seaside for a few days. :) I don't have much to show you, still waiting for the focus point, I kinda forgot about it. And I'm buying a new tripod, already ordered it!

Classes start soon again. Even though I was a bit late, I succeeded transferring from italian, from now on I'm a student of polish, heh. Not my first choice, but.. my being late did it, again. I hope I like it as much as I like czech!

Anyway, a while back I got into cooking and stuff a bit more seriously, while the family was away and there was no criticizm. :D It was my first time making pizza dough, and it turned out okay. Today was my third time and I'm getting the hang of it. ;)

When I really get it right, you're all invited to lunch!

Bob Dylan is playing in my room. Fits the current mood. I'm drinking coffe (again, after a long time), reading notes.
I'm writing this more or less only to escape the rutine, studying. Any alternative, even a crappy one, is excellent today. I'd even peel potatoes for the whole day, if I didn't have to study. I'm thinking about... correcting some project, cleaning my shoes, cleaning my room,... anything, just not studying!

But I have to. I'm already ''late'', I feel like I haven't studied at all, and exams start on Thursday. What's keeping me up is that I still have a few days, and less exams than last year, so all is not lost. Optimist. I'm still growing more nervous by the hour, I feel like this diver.
